Analysis on Structure borne & Air borne Noise

The assessment of structure-borne and airborne noise is vital for building a secure, comfortable, and efficient environment by identifying and mitigating noise sources that affect military security, equipment longevity, and humans' comfort. The noise level to be maintained below the tolerance level for equipment installed in submarines & ships such as pumps, gear boxes, DE/GT engines, distillation plants and water/air filters.

We at SiMantis provide a consultancy service on assessment of equipment and assembly system comply with the covenant standards of SBN MIL-STD-740-2.  Vibration spectrum, impedance is a way to evaluate SPL through the response acceleration of the equipment mounting area. SBN in dba is derived from logarithmic of SPL data over a forcing frequency in 1/3 octave band of the respective application

We recommend suitable resilient mounts and damping materials to reduce SBN re radiation effect. An effective acoustic design by providing vacuum pockets, sound absorbing materials and acoustic enclosures to mitigate the effects.

Structure-Borne Noise (SBN)

This type of noise is generated when vibration energy from a source (like a pump or engine) is transmitted through the solid structure of a vessel or building. The structure itself then vibrates, radiating sound into the surrounding air.

Air-Borne Noise (ABN)

This is the more familiar noise that travels directly through the air, generated by vibrating surfaces or turbulence.

Noise Measurement & Compliance

High-powered, rotating, or reciprocating machinery like pumps, gearboxes, Diesel/Gas Turbine (DE/GT) engines, distillation plants, and filters are primary SBN/ABN sources.
